This page describes the advanced Z-Wave functions.

Most functions are available in Configuration / Devices / Add or remove a device / Advanced Z-Wave functions.

Introduction

Our goal is to ensure the best compatibility with Z-Wave devices, whatever the brands.

All devices using the EU frequency (868Mhz) may be added (included) on your eedomus gateway.

If the device is already registered by the eedomus team, it's features, images, units, are automatically setup. If the device is unknown, it should work with a minimum feature, in this situation we encouraged you to contact the eedomus technical support so we can study this new device.

We are compatible with most devices that are distributed in our area of distribution.

Where can I find this functions?

The advanced Z-Wave function are available according to the image below (click first on Add/Remove a device in the Devices tab)

Z-Wave Factory reset

This functions ERASES the Z-Wave chip memory (and all it's Z-Wave devices).

NOT TO USE unless you are completely aware you will have to proceed to inclusion again.

This is usefull only if you want to reconstruct your Z-Wave network from scratch.

For a full reset, answer NO when eedomus aks you to keep the device structures (Answering yes can be usefull in some specific technical support cases)

Include/Exclude a device

Adding (Including) a device

To add a device, click on System configuration / Add or remove a device / Include Z-Wave device on the eedomus portal.

By default, inclusion is processed in secure mode (If the Z-Wave device is security enabled). In some situation, you may force a non secure inclusion by clicking on the right part of the button.

When eedomus ask you to do so (Message + sound notification), you can proceed to the inclusion routine on the Z-Wave device to add : inclusion button click for example (The action may differs on devices, report to the user manual of the device for that)

Removing (Excluding) a device

To remove a device, click on System configuration / Add or remove a device / Exclude Z-Wave device on the eedomus portal.

When eedomus ask you to do so (Message + sound notification), you can proceed to the exclusion routine on the Z-Wave device to add : inclusion button click for example (The action may differs on devices, report to the user manual of the device for that)

Include/Exclude Controller

On eedomus, there is no differences between including/excluding a slave Z-Wave device and including/excluding a controller.

In order to do so, report to the paragraph above.

Association

Manage association for an included device

During the inclusion process, the gateway is doing an association with the main association group of the device (Generaly, it's the group 1, Lifeline, but it may vary regarding the specificity of the included Z-Wave device.

The association parameters of a Z-Wave device may be tuned using the Z-Wave parameter tab of the device configuration.

On some devices (like older remote switches) you can use the Association button so the gateway sends it's identifier to create an association.

Manage association for an the eedomus gateway

The eedomus+ gatewau supports up to 8 nodes in group 1 (Lifeline).

Include the eedomus gateway in an existing network

You may use your eedomus gateway in an existing Z-Wave network.

To do that, set your existing primary controller in inclusion mode, then press the Learm mode button on the eedomus portal.

Using learn mode, the eedomus gateway can receive network informations from another controller.

The nodes on your existing network will appear on your eedomus interface, you'll have to press the Rediscover button in order to fetch their detailed characteristics.

Note : If the eedomus+ gateway receives a Basic Command, it will be ignored, resulting in no action.

Replication (Copy)

The controller replication process initiate a copy of the network informations from/to the eedomus+ gateway to/from another controller.

Replication (Copy) from eedomus to another controller
  • On the eedomus portal, click on System configuration / Add or remove a device / Include Z-Wave device
  • Put the new controller in Learn mode. (It doesn't matter if the controller is in your network or not)
Replication (Copy) to eedomus from another controller
  • On the new controller, click on Add a new controller (Report to new controller manual)
  • Click on Learn mode on the eedomus portal

Controller shift

Controller shift from eedomus to another controller

You can also shift the controller of your eedomus+ gateway to another controller, for that :

  • click on Controller shift on the eedomus portal.
  • follow the documentation on your other controller.

The other controller can also be eedomus (to transfer devices from one to another).

Controller shift from another controller to eedomus

If you have already set up a Z-Wave network that is controlled by a controller from another manufacturer, and now want to shift primary control to your new eedomus+ gateway you'll need to :

  • Click on the Shift button of the other controller (Refer to user manual of this other controller)
  • Click on Learn mode on the eedomus portal, as described above in the Learn mode section

This process also replicates all the devices from your old controller to your eedomus gateway.

If your other gateway was eedomus, you can also transfer all the complementary information (images of devices, rooms,...).
