Pulse counting with eedomus box
You can use the RJ12 socket of the eedomus box to count pulse from a device such as Polier meter for example.
Wiring diagram
To connect your meter to your eedomus box, you can use the first three RJ12 socket available on the box (labeled A, B and C). The last one (D) is reserved for specific uses.
To count pulses, you must place your meter between a data wire (A3, A4, B3, ... on the diagram below) and the ground (GND). For example, to connect a pulse counter on the B socket of the box, it is possible to connect the meter between the wire B3 and B6 (GND), or between the wire B4 and B6.
The diagram explaining the connection and the names of the wire is as follows:
Device creation
Once the wires are connected, you can create the device pulse counter on the eedomus portal. To do that, go to Configuration / Add or remove a device / Add another type of device, in the Other category.
You just have to filled necessary fields, indicating which wire was used in the previous connection to the meter.
Measure period is the time between two measurement of values.
Conversion factor is usually written on the meter, and corresponds to the number of pulses from the unit employed. We have the relation 1 pulse = conversion factor * units used per hour. For example, if a meter that emits 1000 pulses per kWh is used, the conversion factor will be 1 and the unit will be W because one pulse corresponds to 1Wh. If a meter that emits a pulse every 10 liters of water is used, the conversion factor will be 10 and the unit will be L, and if a meter emits a pulse for 10dm3 of gas consumed, conversion factor will be 0.001 and unit will be m3 because we have one pulse for 0,001 m3 of gas consumed.
In order to have the most reliable measurements, it is recommanded to put a large measurement period, especially if measurement of electrical power are small.
Here is an example of the configuration for a pulse meter Polier which emit 1000 pulses per kWh. We chose a measurement period of 10 minutes, and we connected the counter between B3 wire and mass:
